Get the artwork out of a file, or put a different picture in.

or drop it here

MP3, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus, WAV and AIFF can be changed. Artwork in any readable file can be viewed and saved.. Files stay on your device.

How it works

  1. Choose an audio file.
  2. View the artwork, with its size and format.
  3. Save the image, or choose a new JPEG or PNG, or remove the artwork.
  4. Click save and download the updated file.

View and save the artwork

Every embedded picture is shown with its type (front cover, back cover and so on), pixel size, image format and file size. Save image downloads the original bytes, unchanged, as a JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP file. The picture is read from the file in your browser and goes nowhere else.

Replace or remove the cover

Choose, drop or paste a JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF of up to 10 MB, check the preview, and save. The new picture becomes the one front cover and replaces every other embedded picture; the page tells you how many will be replaced. Remove artwork deletes all pictures. Title, artist and the other tags, and the audio itself, are not touched, and the audio is copied without re-encoding.

SVG is not accepted, because it is not a picture format players understand and can carry scripts. Export it as JPEG or PNG first.

Which size works best

A square image of 600 to 3000 pixels a side suits most players and stores. Smaller pictures look soft on large screens, and very large ones add megabytes to every copy of the file without being displayed any larger; some players refuse them. The page warns about both, and about pictures that are not square, but does not resize or crop for you.

Formats

Artwork can be replaced or removed in MP3, AAC, M4A, M4B, FLAC, Ogg Vorbis, Opus, WAV and AIFF files. In WAV and AIFF the picture is stored in an ID3 chunk, which some players ignore. For WMA, WebM, Matroska and MP4 with video the artwork can be viewed and saved, but not changed.

Questions

How do I extract the album art from an MP3?

Choose the file, find the picture in the list and press Save image. You get the exact image that is embedded in the file.

Why does the page say there is no artwork?

The file has no embedded picture. Some players show cover images from a separate folder.jpg file or an online lookup, which are not part of the audio file.

Does changing the cover affect the sound?

No. The audio is copied untouched and the other tags are kept as they were.

The new cover does not show up in my player.

Players often cache covers. Restart the player or re-import the file. WAV and AIFF files store artwork in a way many players do not read; MP3, M4A and FLAC are the most reliable.
