MP3 Cutter

A lossless MP3 cutter: the frames you keep are copied as they are, snapped to MP3 frame boundaries.

or drop it here

MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR and the sound of most videos. Files stay on your device.

How it works

  1. Choose an MP3 file.
  2. Set the start and end on the waveform or with the time fields.
  3. Check the actual cut points shown after snapping to frames.
  4. Download the cut MP3.

Cutting without re-encoding

An MP3 is a series of small frames, each about 26 milliseconds long. This cutter copies the frames you keep exactly as they are, so the quality is identical to the original and a long file is cut in a moment.

Because frames cannot be split, the start and end snap to frame boundaries. The page shows the earliest start and latest end your selection will use, and after the cut it reports the real length of the result.

When to use Exact instead

If you need a fade at the edges, a different bitrate or another format, switch Cut method to Exact. That decodes and re-encodes the selection once. Tags and cover art are kept in both modes unless you remove them.

Tips

  • Drag on the waveform, or type the times, then press play to check the cut.
  • Use Hear start and Hear end to listen to a second around each cut point.
  • Variable-bitrate and constant-bitrate MP3 files are both supported.
  • Other formats work too: Fast mode is offered for M4A, FLAC, OGG and Opus files.

Questions

Is the cut really lossless?

Yes. The kept MP3 frames are copied bit for bit. Only the start and end move slightly to the nearest frame, about 26 ms.

Why is my result slightly longer than the selection?

A lossless cut cannot split a frame, so the file starts at the frame that contains your start time and ends after the frame that contains your end time. Use Exact if you need the cut to the millisecond.

Does it keep the ID3 tags and cover art?

Yes, by default. You can remove them in Output settings.

Is the MP3 uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read and cut in your browser and never leaves your device.
