Loop Audio
Make a clip play again and again, or stretch it to a target duration, with a smooth seam.
MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR and the sound of most videos. Files stay on your device.
How it works
- Choose an audio file.
- Choose how many repeats, or a target duration.
- Set a crossfade if the seam clicks, and preview it.
- Export and download.
Repeat a clip or fill a length
Choose a number of plays, which counts the original, so 4 plays the clip once and repeats it three times. Or choose a target length such as 10 minutes: the clip repeats until the result is exactly that long and the last repeat is cut short. Loops can be up to 24 hours long.
To loop only part of a file, select it on the waveform and turn on Process only the selected part. This is the usual way to make a loop from a bar of music or a sound effect.
Smooth seams
A loop only sounds seamless if the end of the clip leads naturally into its beginning. If you hear a click or a jump, add a crossfade: the end of each repeat fades out while the next one fades in, which also makes the loop shorter by that amount per seam. The Preview button plays the last four seconds of the clip, the seam and the first four seconds again, so you can check the join in a moment without processing the whole file.
Cutting the clip on a beat or at a quiet point with the Trim tool gives the cleanest loop.
Long loops and quality
Repeats are streamed to the encoder, so a long loop does not need to fit in memory. For very long results choose a compressed format, because an hour of CD-quality WAV is about 600 MB. Lossy formats are encoded once.
Questions
How do I make a seamless loop?
Select a section that starts and ends at the same point in the music, such as exactly one bar, and add a short crossfade of 20 to 100 milliseconds. Use Preview to listen to the seam.
Does a crossfade change the length?
Yes. Each seam overlaps by the crossfade length, so the result is shorter by that much for every repeat.
What is the longest loop I can make?
Twenty-four hours. Very long files are limited by the output format and your device storage rather than memory.
Can I loop a whole song to make it longer?
Yes, choose a target length. For a song a crossfade of a second or two usually hides the join; for music with a clear ending it will not sound natural.
