Clean Up Voice Recording
One button for the usual fixes: remove rumble, reduce noise, even out the level and trim the dead air.
MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR and the sound of most videos. Files stay on your device.
How it works
- Choose a voice recording.
- Leave the steps on, or switch off the ones you do not want.
- Preview and compare with the original.
- Export and download.
What the one click does
The steps run in this order, and each can be switched off. A gentle 80 Hz high-pass filter removes rumble. RNNoise reduces background noise. A compressor (threshold −24 dB, ratio 2:1, soft knee) brings loud and quiet words closer together. The level is raised or lowered to −16 LUFS, the usual target for podcasts and voice, and a limiter keeps peaks under −1 dBTP. Finally, silence at the start and end (quieter than −50 dBFS) is trimmed, keeping a short margin of 0.1 second.
Before and after
After the export the page shows the loudness (integrated LUFS), true peak, sample peak and loudness range of the original and of the result, how much gain was applied, whether the limiter had to act, and how much silence was trimmed. The figures are measured on the processed audio before encoding, so a lossy format such as MP3 can move the peaks slightly.
The preview works on a 10-second excerpt. It levels that excerpt on its own, so its loudness can differ a little from the final result, and it does not trim silence.
Limits
This is built for one person speaking. It is not a restoration tool: it cannot repair clipped, distorted or very noisy recordings, and the noise suppressor can change the sound of music or singing. If the voice is very quiet the boost stops at +30 dB and the target loudness is not reached; the result report says so. For finer control use the separate noise reduction, volume and silence tools.
Questions
Why −16 LUFS?
It is a common loudness for stereo podcasts and voice content, loud enough on a phone without being fatiguing. Mono voice is often delivered at −19 LUFS, which you can reach with the loudness normalizer.
Can I keep the silence at the start?
Yes. Switch off "Trim silence at the start and end". The other steps are not affected.
The result is noisier or sounds odd. What can I change?
Switch the noise step off and use Noise reduction instead, where you can lower the strength and compare. Also try switching off the compressor if the voice sounds pumped.
Does it work on music or videos?
It is made for speech. Music is treated as noise by the denoiser, so leave that step off for anything other than a voice. Videos work if the browser can read their audio track.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
