Merge Audio Files

Combine audio files in the order you choose, with optional gaps or crossfades between them.

or drop them here

MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR and the sound of most videos. Files stay on your device.

How it works

  1. Choose two or more audio files.
  2. Drag them into order, or use the Move up and Move down buttons.
  3. Set gaps or crossfades and the output format.
  4. Click Merge and download the combined file.

Join files in the order you want

Add two or more files, then arrange them: drag a row to a new place, or use the Move up and Move down buttons on each row, which also work from the keyboard and on touch screens. Sort by name puts numbered files such as track 2 and track 10 in natural order. The Play button on a row lets you check a single file before you join.

The total length is shown as you change the settings, so you can see the effect of a gap or crossfade before you merge.

Gaps, crossfades and mixed files

Between files you can add nothing, a silent gap of up to a minute, or a crossfade in which the end of one file fades out while the next fades in. A crossfade makes the result shorter by its length for each join; a gap makes it longer. The two do not combine. Equal power keeps the loudness steady through the fade, and Linear is the plain straight-line fade.

Files do not have to match. Different formats, sample rates and channel counts are converted as they are joined, by default to the highest sample rate and the largest number of channels among the files, and the page tells you when it does that. You can choose another rate or channel layout in Output settings.

Quality and limits

Merging decodes every file and encodes the result once, so MP3, M4A and other lossy output is encoded one time, at a bitrate close to the first file unless you pick another. Choose WAV or FLAC as the output to keep the joined audio lossless. A lossless packet-copy join is not offered, because it only works when every file has exactly the same codec settings.

Files are streamed one at a time, so joining many long recordings uses little memory. Up to 500 files can be merged at once. Tags and cover art are taken from the first file; you can remove them in Output settings.

Questions

Can I merge MP3 files?

Yes, and mix them with WAV, M4A, FLAC and other formats. The merged file is encoded once; keep the bitrate at least as high as your files, or choose WAV or FLAC to avoid any extra loss.

How do I change the order after adding files?

Drag a row to a new position, or press Move up or Move down on it. Sort by name orders the whole list at once.

Why is the merged file shorter than the files added together?

You chose a crossfade, which overlaps the end of each file with the start of the next. Set Between files to Nothing or Silent gap for a result that equals the sum.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Every file is read and joined in your browser and never leaves your device.
