Reverse Audio
Flip an audio clip so it plays from the end to the start.
MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR and the sound of most videos. Files stay on your device.
How it works
- Choose an audio file.
- Reverse the whole file, or select a part first.
- Preview the result.
- Export and download.
Reverse a whole file or just a part
By default the whole file plays backwards. To reverse only a section, select it on the waveform and turn on Process only the selected part: the result is that section, reversed. Preview plays the selection, or ten seconds from the playhead when nothing is selected, backwards, and the Original button plays the same moment forwards for comparison.
Long files
The file is read from the end towards the start in small pieces, so reversing a long recording does not need the whole audio in memory. Like every tool here it runs on your device and nothing is uploaded.
Ideas and limits
- Reversed speech makes odd, unintelligible sounds; reversed cymbals and reverb tails make a swell that builds into the next hit.
- Reversing is exact: reversing the result again gives back the original samples (lossy formats are encoded once per save).
- Tags are kept by default. Choose WAV or FLAC as the output to avoid re-encoding a lossy file.
Questions
Does reversing lower the quality?
The audio is reversed sample by sample with no processing. The only loss is the encoding of a lossy output format such as MP3, so use WAV or FLAC if you need a lossless result.
Can I reverse an MP3?
Yes. Open it, reverse, and save in MP3 or any other format. The output is encoded once.
Can I reverse a video?
The tool reverses the sound of a video file, not the picture. You can open most videos and save the reversed audio.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The file stays on your device.
