Make a picture of the sound
The generator draws the whole file as bars, a line or a mirrored shape and gives you the result as a PNG or an SVG. Pick a size preset for a social post, a square, a video frame, a podcast cover or a banner, or enter any size up to 8192 by 4096 pixels. Colours come from presets or from two colour pickers, and the background can be transparent or solid.
The preview updates as you change settings. Bars use the loudest peak in each slice of the file, so the shape follows the loudness over time. Turn off "Scale to full height" to keep quiet files looking quiet.
PNG or SVG
The SVG is a small vector file that stays sharp at any size and can be edited in a design program. The PNG is drawn at exactly the chosen size; the 2x switch draws it at twice the size for high-density screens. A transparent background keeps its transparency in both formats, so you can place the waveform on any colour.
Everything is drawn in your browser. The audio is read to find the peaks, and nothing is uploaded.
Tips
Thin bars with small gaps look like an audio player; wide bars with no gap look bolder. The mirror style looks best on files with a clear loud and quiet structure. For a podcast cover keep the waveform away from the edges by choosing a taller preset and a short, loud clip. Trim the audio first with the trimmer if you only want one part.
Questions
Does the PNG have a transparent background?
Yes, when "Solid background" is off. Turn it on to choose a background colour.
How large can the image be?
Up to 8192 pixels wide and 4096 tall. The 2x PNG option is available while the doubled size stays within 8192 pixels on both sides.
Can I draw only part of the file?
Cut the part you want with the trimmer first, then bring the result here. The generator always draws the whole file it is given.
Why does the waveform look different from my editor?
Editors choose their own scaling and may draw each channel separately. This tool draws the combined peak of all channels, scaled so the loudest peak fills the height unless you turn scaling off.
