Cut Out Part of Audio
Select the part to delete, and the audio before and after it is joined back together.
MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR and the sound of most videos. Files stay on your device.
How it works
- Choose an audio file.
- Select the section to remove on the waveform or with the time fields.
- Preview the join, and add a short crossfade if it clicks.
- Export and download the result.
Remove a section and join the rest
Select the part to delete and the audio before and after it is joined into one file. This suits cutting out a cough, an ad, a mistake or a long pause from the middle of a recording.
To avoid a click at the join, the end of the first part and the start of the second are faded over a few milliseconds. The default is 10 ms; raise it for a softer transition or set it to 0 for a hard splice.
Working precisely
Set the start and end by dragging, with the time fields or with the keyboard (I and O set the start and end at the playhead). Hear cut start and Hear cut end play a second around each point so you can check that you are cutting in silence. To keep a section instead of removing it, switch the mode to Keep selection.
What happens to the audio
Removing a section decodes the audio and encodes the joined result, so lossy formats are encoded once more. Choose WAV or FLAC as the output if you want to avoid that. The result is built in memory, which is fine for ordinary recordings; the page warns before a very long file.
Questions
Can I remove more than one section?
One at a time. Run the cut, then choose the result again in this tool (or download it and open it) to remove the next section.
Will there be a gap or a click where I cut?
No gap: the two sides are joined directly. A very short fade at the seam prevents clicks. You can lengthen it in the fade fields.
Does it work for MP3, WAV, M4A and FLAC?
Yes, for all of them and for OGG, Opus, AIFF and WMA input. The output keeps the input format unless you choose another one.
