Isolate Vocals
Pull the singing out of a mix for remixing, practice or sampling, without uploading the song.
MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, Opus, AIFF, WMA, AMR and the sound of most videos. Files stay on your device.
How it works
- Choose a song.
- Pick AI separation for the best quality.
- Wait for it to finish; you can cancel at any time.
- Download the vocals, or all four stems.
How the vocals are isolated
AI separation uses HTDemucs, an open model by Meta (MIT licence), to split a song into vocals, drums, bass and other. The vocals come out as one file and the rest as an instrumental; you can also save drums, bass and other on their own. The model is about 172 MB, downloaded once after you agree and then kept in your browser cache. Your song is processed on your device and is never uploaded.
Instant mode extracts what is common to the left and right channels, where lead vocals usually sit. It needs no download, but it keeps every centered instrument, not only the voice, only works on stereo mixes with a centered vocal, and gives a mono result. Use it for a quick test only.
What to expect
The vocals are usually clear enough for remixing, practice, transcribing or sampling, but not studio quality: you can hear faint bleed from the instruments, a watery tone on sustained notes, and reverb that follows the voice. Backing vocals may be split between the vocal and instrumental files.
Separation takes from a fraction of the song length (WebGPU) to several times it (single-threaded CPU) and needs around 1 GB of memory plus 130 MB per minute of the song. The page shows an estimate for your device before you start and lets you cancel at any time.
Questions
Is the acapella the same as the original studio vocal?
No. It is an estimate made by a model, so it contains some leftovers from the instruments and loses some detail. It is good for remixes and learning a part, not for release.
Can I also get drums and bass?
Yes. Switch on the option to also save drums, bass and other, and download everything as a ZIP.
Does it work on a mono recording?
The AI mode does. Instant mode needs stereo, because it compares the left and right channels.
The page says my device may not cope. What can I do?
Cut the song to the part you need first with the trimmer, close other tabs, use a desktop browser, or try Instant mode.
Is my audio uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
