About AIFF to WAV conversion
AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format) suits Mac-centred production and handing files to studios that ask for AIFF. WAV (Waveform Audio File Format, RIFF container) suits editing, mastering, sampling and handing audio between programs without quality loss.
Both formats keep the full audio signal, so the conversion does not change how the audio sounds. Samples are carried across exactly, and only the container and compression change.
For a 4-minute track, a typical AIFF file is about 42 MB and a typical WAV file is about 42 MB. Your own result depends on the bitrate and the audio itself.
AIFF vs WAV
WAV support: Opens in every audio editor and operating system. Browsers and phones play it, though not every player shows tags.
AIFF support: Standard in Mac audio software and many DAWs and hardware samplers. Windows and Android support is patchier than WAV.

- AIFF: Same size as WAV, stops at 4 GB, and has weaker tag support than most formats.
- Tags: WAV stores limited: RIFF INFO chunks, and BWF or iXML metadata in broadcast files.
