About MP3 to WAV conversion
MP3 (MPEG-1/2 Audio Layer III) suits music libraries, podcasts and sharing when you cannot know what the listener uses. WAV (Waveform Audio File Format, RIFF container) suits editing, mastering, sampling and handing audio between programs without quality loss.
MP3 is lossy, and no converter can restore detail that was already discarded. The WAV file will sound the same as the MP3 source and will be larger; the point of the conversion is compatibility with software or hardware that needs WAV.
For a 4-minute track, a typical MP3 file is about 6 MB and a typical WAV file is about 42 MB. Your own result depends on the bitrate and the audio itself.
MP3 vs WAV
WAV support: Opens in every audio editor and operating system. Browsers and phones play it, though not every player shows tags.
MP3 support: Plays on virtually every phone, car stereo, TV, browser and media player made in the last 25 years.

Quality and compatibility notes
- WAV: Large files: about 10 MB per minute at CD quality. The classic format stops at 4 GB, which RF64 extends.
- MP3: Each re-encode loses a little more detail, and there is no true gapless support without extra tags.
- Tags: WAV stores limited: RIFF INFO chunks, and BWF or iXML metadata in broadcast files.
Questions
Does converting MP3 to WAV reduce quality?
No further loss happens, but none is recovered either: WAV stores what the MP3 file already contained.
How big will the WAV file be?
For a 4-minute track, a typical MP3 file is about 6 MB and a typical WAV file is about 42 MB. Your own result depends on the bitrate and the audio itself.
Is my MP3 file uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser on your device. The file is never sent to a server, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
