About FLAC to WAV conversion
FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) suits archiving a CD collection and keeping masters at about half the size of WAV. WAV (Waveform Audio File Format, RIFF container) suits editing, mastering, sampling and handing audio between programs without quality loss.
Both formats keep the full audio signal, so the conversion does not change how the audio sounds. Samples are carried across exactly, and only the container and compression change.
For a 4-minute track, a typical FLAC file is about 24 MB and a typical WAV file is about 42 MB. Your own result depends on the bitrate and the audio itself.
FLAC vs WAV
WAV support: Opens in every audio editor and operating system. Browsers and phones play it, though not every player shows tags.
FLAC support: Plays in all current browsers, Android, and most music apps. Apple added full system support in iOS 11 and macOS High Sierra.

Quality and compatibility notes
- WAV: Large files: about 10 MB per minute at CD quality. The classic format stops at 4 GB, which RF64 extends.
- FLAC: Still several times larger than MP3 or AAC, and not every car stereo or older player supports it.
- Tags: WAV stores limited: RIFF INFO chunks, and BWF or iXML metadata in broadcast files.
